Zetan Spore
Label: Aardvark Records Ltd
Artists Genre: Dance
Zetan spore are the masters of playing head games with
their music. They tease, taunt, entice, seduce and
release with firm control and a lightness of touch.
Their music takes you everywhere you want to be…and a
few places you never expected to go. While this may be
the domain of hard trance the music is far from
mindless.
It's a carefully crafted experience guaranteed to put
a smile on the face of any hard dance music fan.
While the Southwest of England hasn't been considered
de rigueur in terms of Haute music for many years, it
would be a mistake to think the music scene there has
died. In fact, the music scene there has grown and
flourished away from the scrutiny of the music centres
of Britain. These intergalactic space cowboys have
used this freedom to experiment, push the dance music
envelope and build a well earned profile for
themselves on the British underground scene.
Evolving from the free party and festival circuit of
the mid '90s, twin brothers Ian and Mark Hasdell have
tapped into something extraordinary. Jaded clubbers,
surfers, sk8ers and adrenaline junkies want something
more from their dance mus...wanting a bigger bang for
their buck. This is a world where dance music fans
have their own minds, know what they like and know
what they want. Zetan
Spore captures the spirit of this zeitgeist to
perfection… They more than deliver the goods.
This is an act that knows how to write and deliver
deceptively simple but devastatingly exquisite hooks.
The live sounds from guitars and didgeridoo plus
fierce tribal breaks give their tracks a definitive
stamp and a rich depth of sound. It is a stamp that
has won them rare praise from the likes of national
press like The Guardian and featured spots at live
events such as London's Antiworld. The overall effect
is one that pushes clubbers into a frenzy on dance
floors and festivals throughout the UK.
A Zetan Spore live show is nothing short of an
experience. The mega-ton blasts of energy, positivity,
joy and enthusiasm that erupts from Mark and Ian
drives the crowds wild. The brothers believe their
stage show is every bit as important as their studio
work. Their live performances unleash a world of
multimedia visuals, projections and quality sound.
Once seen, never forgotten.
Zetan Spore has won admiration, respect and success on
the UK underground scene through years of hard work
and sticking faithfully to their vision. This success
has seen the release of four well-received LPs: The
Pillars of Creation (1998), Subspace Distortions
(1999), Outer Space Hopper Safari (2000) and Transwarp
Audio Head Drive (2002). Their latest LP, "Burn Up",
is the first to have a commercial release in the UK
and abroad. While "Burn Up" maintains a distinctive
underground hard trance feel its uplifting and
energetic vibe has strong crossover appeal.
"Burn Up" is a mind altering experience taking you
from exquisite bliss to a post-orgasmic chill in the
blink of a beat. Like any good session, the tracks
leave you wanting more. "Burn Up" isn't typical dance
music fodder. Each track is a multilayered delicacy
unveiling something new every time you come back to
it. The energy is carefully and cleverly built by
master craftsmen. And when Zetan Spore pulls out the
stops and lets that energy go…the result is euphoria
of tantric proportions.
This is dance music…but not as we know it.
