Thriving with motivation at the young age of 10, he knew that he had what it took to be "Somebody". "But everybody is somebody, but, making a scratch on the earth is what you are looking for", SHOCKWAVES mother would say. How SHOCKWAVE started is a unique story on it's own. The name its self came as a nickname when he was a very young child ( 2 years old ) when he was playing with a hair holding pin in an electrical socket. Luckily for young SHOCK, the voltage in America is only 110 volts in the electricity flow, but still it was very unpleasant. His whole right hand had peeled back. It gave his mother and father a BIG scare and for him a fear of electrics and lightning forever: but maybe that was what jump started his creative mind and crazy antics....life had not been boring for him and his family ever since. The name SHOCKWAVE was born: he himself was born in the capital city of Phoenix in the state of Arizona. SHOCKWAVE quotes, "My mother raised me really, my father only came to visit on the weekends. They were not married, they were "Dating" so to speak, but did not live together. They did not get married until I was 13. They were together for 20 years and got married the last 3 years.....the biggest mistake they ever made. This resulted in a very turbulent household growing up in my teenage years....the entertainment industry was my escape. Unlike some of the other singers you hear about like Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake, my mother and father had very little or nothing to do with my success. They gave no mental or physical support. I asked my mother why she despised my wanting to pursue the entertainment industry, and to this date, I truly have not received a whole-hearted answer. You would think your parents would be proud of their child they brought into the world wanting to strive to be a figure that the world knew by site or voice: being successful and not failing. It was not until recently that my mother started looking out for me on television and in the charts and saw me perform live. My father never came to see me when he knew, he died from a massive heart attack before he saw me in a full professional state ".

SHOCKWAVE had to sneak to be in what he was known for in the beginning. "My parents did not know I was in certain projects until I grew up actually. My sister suspitioned, but really did not know and she never told". SHOCKWAVE explains. His first unofficial representatives/agents, Angie Dimaggio and Sue Wright were both school teachers teaching photography in two separate schools. One a high school, the other a vocational school which was an advanced college prep facility. Sue Wright had big ties with modeling agency L'image/Elite, which at the time was one of the largest and most reputable agency in the world. Angie was a kick ass photographer, killer in the dark room ( photo developing by hand ), and a hard critic from New York. But before photography and modelling came into play, even before Sue Wright came into the picture, Dimaggio and music instructor Jean Perry had been there for young SHOCKWAVE when his mother & father were not. He later gained professional dance lessons from a personal dance instructor/choreographer named Kim Dorsen who was aquatinted with Paula Abdul at the time, this would prove to be very beneficial for the future, but SHOCK did not know it yet. He and others realized that he was very multi-talented putting his hand onto anything and everything that had to do with showman ship or entertaining.

"I remember even before I had this chance to work and train with professionals, I would call over all the kids in the neighbourhood, even some parents would come as well and pay 25 cents to see me dance and sing. Then, my idol and artist I liked and looked up to was Prince. I would dress up like him, you know, flashy, wear the gloves, put on talc powder as make-up on my face, wear my sisters clogs because Prince did ( because he is very short ) and all that stuff...my mother hated it because he was nasty, but I did not give a damn what she thought. She did not have to worry about giving me any extra money to get gum and candy like the rest of the kids because I was making it performing in the garage at the house: she should have been glad just for that! I won look alike and dance contests for both Prince and Michael Jackson. I know at the time, Jackson was the hottest thing on the planet, but Prince still in my eyes was the artist that captured my attention. There was allot I related to with him. He was the first person I saw in concert and I eventually was able to work with him later in life". SHOCKWAVE explains.

With 2 other best friends, SHOCKWAVE, Kyle Simms and Cedric Green appeared as a trio and sang their way to school and hometown popularity very rapidly with Angie Dimaggio openly calling the shots as their hopeful, future manager along with whom SHOCKWAVE considered a confidant at the time, Stephen Carson, also a school teacher: a coach in athletics. At this time SHOCKWAVES parents were watching and not liking what they saw. "My parents felt that the music was making me fail, I was a good kid that did not drink, smoke or do drugs. Did not run with gangs ( which at the time was very bad ) and did not run with the wrong crowd. I knew what direction I wanted to go in and that should not have been disturbed. I would have been even farther now if they had not of gotten in my way. I did not want to just stop my education, I wanted to do both, I wanted to learn only what was necessary, not do all these extra electives to socialize. I was perfecting my image and what I wanted to be. The education system at the time was not made interesting, therefore I was bored of it". SHOCKWAVE explains.

With that, a few contacts that he had made along the way gave him the opportunity to do some high profile guest appearances that were sworn to secrecy. "At the time, my parents did not even have a clue, they were so busy being wrapped up into themselves trying so hard to prove who was right and who was wrong to each other, I slipped right through their hands out of their controlling grasp. They though I was at summer camp with the other kids and all that mess. I was in Los Angeles on music video shoots and got my chance to be with Michael Jackson on the set of Disney's 3D spectacle Captain EO which was directed by George Lucas and Frances Ford Copula. I did not even tell Kyle and Cerdic because I knew it would get out and eventually to my parents through other kids telling their parents about me excited from coming home from school and eventually the parents innocently telling my parents through conversations about each others kids". Back home, one of the members of the trio, Kyle Simms moved away leaving SHOCKWAVE and Cedric Green a duo which only made school appearances a couple of times before Cedric moved away leaving SHOCKWAVE a solo artist. Shortly after that, SHOCKWAVES mother and father divorced, which he thought was the best thing that ever could have happened because he could have the freedom back that he once knew before they got married 3 years earlier.

SHOCKWAVE recalls....
"My mother would work nights and sleep during the day. working nights paid more money and with her being a single mother again, she needed it. I basically from that time as an older teenager became a young adult very quickly. My mother always knew I was responsible enough to be by myself, travel by myself and all of that. Even though she suspected and knew what was going on, it was too late to stop anything". So now it was SHOCKWAVE and Angie and they had to conjure up a plan on what he would do as a solo artist.

There was someone who did know everything that was going on to a certain extent and stayed true to SHOCKWAVE throughout it all named Felica Adams.

Her uncle who went by the nick name of "Cookie" had ties with the force behind the success of the rap group Salt-N-Peppa and R&B group Ready For The World who had big success in the 80s. Felicia asked if her uncle could give an inside ear to them on the new solo career move for there was a success story waiting to happen. Cookie being an up coming musician himself collaborated with SHOCKWAVE to write his first 2 original tracks entitled "Ladies in the world", a rap number and "I don't want it" an R&B/Dance number. The rap number led to a brief meeting with producer "Nasty Ness" of Nasty Mix Records who boasted a number one artist at the time called "Sir Mix Alot". The contacts were rolling in but they wanted SHOCKWAVE to change his genre of choice of music. Hard rap was transforming - a new style of rap was coming in with a new era and the contacts that were being made were more on the Dance/R&B side. So, for the first time, SHOCKWAVE teamed up with a young lady named Cynthia Viegas to sing as a duet. " I remember Felicia was very jealous of Cynthia at the time, they fell in and out of friendship over that. Felicia had her chance to sing with me several times, but was too shy and would never make it on stage solely because of that - she could sing very well. Cynthia had a very beautiful voice.
We trained under the same voice/musical director Jean Perry, also a school teacher, who saw the match straight away". SHOCKWAVE recalls.

Rehearsals commenced and then an opportunity for a small showcase was announced. A phone call came to SHOCKWAVE to say that a representative from M.C.A. Records would be present, so he had better give it all he had for he was scouting for new talent. , Jean Perry, and the rep from M.C.A. approved of the performance very much that night.

"I never knew that reps full name, only "Ced" which was what everyone called him. I think Jean Perry knew something was up that night but she did not say anything to my mother or Cynthia's parents. When Ced and another guy, who I never knew, walked in the door together, they looked at me, nodded and sat in the far top corner of the small performance room. Jean Perry watched them the whole time with suspicion because she knew everyone that had walked in the room. But she saw the acknowledgment that they gave me and wondered what was up. My mother, Cynthia - at that time, and her parents were all un aware of what was really happening for me that night....MY BIG BREAK !!!! After the performance, The M.C.A. Reps slickly slipped out the door the same way that slipped in. " SHOCKWAVE recalls.
The next day, it was confirmed, SHOCKWAVE got the phone call that he was waiting for, on a Saturday no less, he never forgot it. A good opportunity opened up for him and he was offered a spot to sing back up for a new up and coming artist named Johnny Kemp at a live New Years Eve party inside Disneyland at Tomorrowland Terrance. It was Kemps first and only moderate hit, unfortunately, that was being featured at the time entitled "Just Got Paid". "We went on before "The Jets" performed, who were having huge success at the time. They moved them to another stage at Videopolis in the park because it was covered and it just had rained before the midnight hour. Even though I had done some smaller professional stuff before this, I felt like this was my first official "Big Time" appearance as a potential successful "Recording Artist". My mother did not have a clue. School was out for Christmas Holiday break for 2 weeks, I just simply asked if I could go to Disneyland for New Years Eve to have fun, she said yes. I think also she wanted a bit of time to herself as well with her and my father just divorcing a few months earlier and wanted to sort her mind out. Ced from M.C.A. and a few others met me at the airport, we did rehearsals, rode in Limos, booked in the suites at the Disneyland Hotel, were treated like kings and queens. For a very young teenager, it was a dream life come true. I did not let it spoil me, because I know life was hard before that and I was not out of the woods yet as far as a stable career".

SHOCKWAVES mother eventually did find out what was happening shortly after that and to a surprise took it very well. "I think it was just the fact that her and my father splitting up really took an effect on her looking back on it now. She just could not be bothered. She was concerned for me and did not want me to get hurt, raped, drugged or be led into drugs or be taken advantage of by the industry. She knew I could take care of myself, but there still was the notion of disapproval. She never came to see me in any of those shows even after she knew that I had a chance to do something big. So, I left her to her life and she left me to mine to a certain extent." SHOCKWAVE recalls.

He has opened for acts such as New Shoez, Young M.C., Stacy Q, and Mary Wells, ( former supreme with Diana Ross ).

Then came a short break from the singing world and the "Roll Over Effect" kicked in. SHOCKWAVE was appearing in anything and everything that he could. He had linked up with Ellite and Cassablancas Modelling agency as well as a few agents and casting directors in Los Angeles.
After appearing in magazine spots for International Male, Coda and Robinson's and Runway Fashion Shows, he appeared in television and motion picture. A few of his many spots include "Independence Day", "The Fan", and "The Matrix". Televisions "Silk Stalkings", "Kindred" "The Embraced", 3 seasons on "Nash Bridges" and the daytime soap "Sunset Beach". In one year he appeared in 4 national television commercials and appeared in the music video "Backstreets Back" along with dance work with Christina Aguilera Destiny's Child.

Now, SHOCKWAVE has come back to his solo artist roots to take the stage once again with more powerful vocals and a high impact show with his dancers.

His very first release as a dance artist, Here Comes The Rain Again appeared in 14 countries and has not slowed down yet. The second release, "I Like It" is to come with an album due in 2006.
