The A Side of BPT “Moody” (128 BPM) on KULT has a vocal mix and its accompanying beats track. The former is a quirkily keyed and percussively accented male vocal houser with light acid-ic threads and a synthed string cover. It’s a houser with a light Latin flavor with a samba-like groove and sparse faux horn accent. The bassline works VERY well with the acid. I dare you to try to sit still. Danny ‘Buddah’ Morales is enjoying major industry kudos with his slinky dub for Deep Swing’s “I Am Somebody.” The track was definitely one of the buzz records at this year’s Winter Music Conference in Miami. However, the New York-based DJ/producer is not one to rest on his multiple laurels. Morales teams up with Louis ‘Passion’ and Richie ‘Toma’, collectively known as B.P.T. Bronxide, for some carnal delights on wax. ‘Moody’ is a sensuous musical journey of the deepest order. Featuring the breathy vocals of the mysterious Binxter, ‘Moody’ is a tale of unadulterated, unquenchable passion and who better to bring it you than the triumverate of B.P.T Bronxide., who squeeze every last modicum of sensuality from the cut. The four track single brings you different flavors to suit every palate, opening with “Moody Vocals,” a bouncy cut, with a laidback sexy horn that weaves in and out of the background, comfortably evoking unashamedly R-rated vibes. “Moody Beats” are made for working, ideal for DJs, who like to layer their mixes with extra pounding beats. The “Moody Dub,” that kicks off the B-Side, is stripped to the bone. This groove is a no-nonsense piece of work that takes several key elements of the main vocal and creates an engaging variation of the theme. The 12” concludes with the “Moody Instrumental,” which gives the versatile DJ more options to work a record that will surely be one of the classic cuts for the spring clubbing season.
