Glitter balls, illuminated dance floors, Saturday Night Fever… all from the disco age, the nightclubs of Mum and Dad's era. Picture a scene from the 70’s at the disco inferno - flares, mullets and afros, and crowds of groovers getting fabulous and staying alive.
Disco is the spiritual home to hundreds of artists such as the Bee Gees, Michael Jackson, Gloria Gayner, Donna Summer, Kool and the Gang, Hamilton Bohannan, and labels such as DeeLite, Salsoul, Casablanca, Prelude, TK and SAM.
Disco was also responsible for introducing the 12” vinyl to the world. Allowing tracks to be made longer, more interesting and intricate to keep people on the dance floor. Made famous by Tom Moulton who created legendary edits and flowing tracks that are classics right through to today.
Disco music is less popular than it once was, but there has been something of a resurgence recently so dig out your flares...
