Now Danny Morales has added a harder but effective kick to his version which has been getting major play from Louie Vega and to Morillo. The vocals have been changed and dubbed out a little which makes this version interesting. Louie Vega WMC 1997 is all I can say.

Not Glenn Jones’ cut classic of self-appraisal - although lyrically you’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise. With a thickly layered choir sung chorus iced with smooth, seductive harmonies that effectively drive-home the quietly insinuating hook. A cool garage offering laced with gospel-spice that whilst still evoking the spirit of Christianity leans decidedly more to the mainstream. A batch of solid remixes also shrewdly tap into the anthemic nature of the chorus across a double-pack of equally strong mixes. Praise indeed.

This is garage house at it’s most basic, soulful core-a spiritually vocal that just raises the hair on the back of my neck and a bouncy, classic production that makes my feet wanna shuffle all over the dancefloor. It MUST be a Deep Swing production! Their A1 Deep Sing Vocal spotlights the talented gospel voices of A7 and takes some jazzy key excursions, along the way. Lenny Fontana’s Vocal, though, really rocks me-it’s a deeper vybe version with fiercely funky bass grooves and spirited organ fills that just sends me into testifying fits if ecstasy. Danny “Buddah” Morales serves up a more tribalistic affair that keeps up the vibe of the song while satisfying a need for a harder, more progressive edge, manipulating the vocals more and boosting the bass for a mix that’ll work better in big rooms-definitely not my taste, but maybe yours. Lenny Fontana’s instrumental dub closes it out, equally as enticing as his A side vocal. On the whole, a very nice project that should make some waves on garage charts everywhere.*****

Deep Swing knows how to get a party started right and if any DJ worth their salt knows the score, they’ll realize the best place to start is right here with ‘I Am Somebody’. The anticipated follow-up to Deep Swing’s ‘He’s Got The Love’ storms onto turntables the length and breadth of the garage house nation "I Am Somebody" is a bouncy smorgasbord of juicy soulsonic forces. The main Deep Swing cut, which kicks off the 12” is the perfect foundation for the spiritually-uplifting vocals of gospel outfit, A7. This tour de force delivers a message of optimism lovingly enveloped in some of the smoothest garage rhythms around. The second track is the kinetic Lenny Fontana Mix that retains all the elements of the original with a deeper garage feel. Lenny Fontana’s gorgeous production bounces along nicely as A7’s vocals interweave ,with the profusion of melodies. Danny ‘Buddha’ Morales’ muscle-bound mix should more than suffice those garage heads with a predeliction for music with an edgier aesthetic. Buddha’s mix retains the optimistic vibe of the song, adding his distinctive tribalistic signature to a cut that’s guaranteed to add fuel to any dancefloor fire. Lenny Fontana brings the party proceedings to a close with an instrumental version of his mix. Making minimal use of A7’s vocals, Fontana places emphasis on the sweeping melodies as the tracks main propellant.All-in-all, a supreme collective effort that caters to even the most finicky clubhead without a hint of compromise.
