Looking back on the early days of house,
Eddie Fowlkes has been a constant reminder of
where it all began, around chicago and his own detroit
in the U.S. Eddie's love for house
music began as early as 1981 playing tunes at
large underground parties in his hometown. in
developing his amazing mixing skills,
Eddie became intrigued with the "third song" - a djing
term for the mixing of one track into
another, resulting in a new hybrid
sound... this new sensation eventually drew him into
the recordings studios where he really began
to make a name for himself. he became one of the
originators of techno music. his creative
impulses, futuristic thinking and love for
music inspired derrick may and Kevin saunderson to
record and release the sounds that
initiated the detroit techno scene. Eddie
developed a lush, afro-centric sound which he dubbed
techno soul. a marriage of early
exposure to black jazz - through one of his uncles -
with his love of dance music. this layed down
the foundations for his first hit "goodbye
kiss", which was released on juan atkins' label
metroplex in 1986. Eddie has remained one of
dances more intruiging characters and has
released projects for many international
labels including his own city boy imprint.
