Born Mark Martinez, “Flava” has been dancing all his
life. He began his career in Las Vegas performing in
the “Siegfried & Roy” show, but it was his time abroad
dancing in Europe’s most infamous dance clubs, which
allowed him to hone his skills and launch his
notoriety as a performer.
After 3 years rewarding years performing with Las
Vegas’ venerable talents Siegfried and Roy, which he
merits for his strong backbone in the
entertainment business, Mark took a chance by
following his instincts and moved to Stockholm, Sweden
to find new venues to explore his versatile and lively
performance skills. He landed his first job at
PATRICIA, Stockholm’s most notorious club, known for
its extravagant and unique performers, from one
audition. It was clear that his instincts had put him
on the right path to success.
On his next stop on his wild ride throughout Europe,
where he absorbed the vibrant nightlife scene, Mark
landed in Paris, France. His androgynous
appearance set him apart and garnered him laudatory
reviews from his electric routines that set the stage
alive. He quickly rose in popularity at LIDO de PARIS
and eventually became the Lead Dancer.
While simultaneously performing at QUEEN in Paris,
Mark was spotted by the producer of IT, the biggest
club in Amsterdam, Holland. The producer asked him to
become the Lead “Go-Go” Dancer of IT. While in
constant demand, his reputation grew so strong that he
was often credited for bringing excitement and
“flavor” to nightlife. Hence, Mark’s stage name
“Flava” was christened.
With talent, experience and new name baptized, Flava
headed back to the U.S. and found a willing audience
in Southern California. He has since become one of
L.A.’s most finest and recognized performers at
After-Hours venues RED EYE from Wil Gorges and Garrett
Kimball and SPIN from Rohan & Marco.
While mesmerizing audiences with his unique gifts at
the famed FACTORY nightclub in West Hollywood, Flava
caught the eye of current #1 circuit DJ Manny Lehman.
Through his newfound relationship with Lehman, he was
introduced to world-class party promoter Jeffrey
Sanker, whom he terms a “circuit god.” Sanker acutely
picked up on Flava’s live stage appeal. He has since
utilized Flava in every main circuit party event that
his large-scale production company has brought
throughout the country such as “The White Party” in
Palm Springs and Miami, “Miami New Years” and “Gay
Days Orlando.” He has even been flown out of the
country to exotic and festive locales like Rio de
Janeiro in Brazil for “The Black Party.”
In constant demand for PRIDE celebrations throughout
the U.S., Flava has also had the pleasure of
performing with other top notch stage Diva
personalities such as Extreme (Shokraw), Kitty Meow
and the legendary Power Infiniti.
A very successful choreographer in Hollywood when he
is not performing, Flava has staged shows for big
companies such as Nike, Sketchers and Diesel. Most
recently, he was credited for Dick Clark’s syndicated
series “Your Big Break” with host Alfonso Ribeiro.
Flava recently announced his permanent residency at
the newly launched After Hours venue TRADE; the London
transplanted club located at The Palace in Hollywood.
While his performance schedule there keeps him very
busy, he also serves as the club’s Entertainment
Director.
With all his success, Flava remains grounded because
of his close relationship with God. In Flava’s words,
