Backini's late 2003 single 'Company B Boy' was one of
Big Chill's top tracks of 2003 and the album which
followed, 'Threads', garnered high praise across the
board from the lofty style peaks of Sleazenation and
Dazed and Confused to sharing a cheeky column inch or
two with Beyonce and Britney in Glamour magazine.
There was something there for them all as well as a
richly deserved place in the 'best of the year' lists
of those in the know.
Backini will be making his Big Chill debut on the Fat
Tuesday stage at 7.30pm, Friday 30th July, with a
seven piece live extravaganza including sax, flutes,
decks and the kitchen sink. The live line up features
vocalist Dhalia and irrepressible Backini stalwart JFB
bringing fast and furious scratching to
proceedings.
With a brace of compilation licences set to spread
Backini perversion to the US and beyond, and a soon to
be released remix for hotly tipped The Real Tuesday
Weld on PIAS, Backini is currently hard at work on the
follow up to last years highly acclaimed debut.
The Big Chill appearance thus represents a rare chance
to see the band at full strength before they disappear
into the studio to put the finishing touches to the
new album, currently in possession of the intriguing
and characteristically disturbing working title of
'Nice Murders'. The artwork as usual will be provided
by hotly tipped embroideress to the stars Jenny King
and examples of her previous artwork for Backini will
be appearing on backdrops and t shirts near you in the
not too distant future.
