Coming from the same town as pop idol winner, Will
Young in Hungerford, Amelia discovered her talent for
singing at the age of 10, and performed in front of an
audience at school, singing cover songs. Encouraged
from this she started to have singing lessons, and
took part in performances when she could.
She started writing her own songs on the keyboard at
the age of 14, recording and spent some time in the
School recording studio. At this time she also
performed cover songs, such as ‘Mariah Carey’, in
duets and solos at musical concerts.
From 16 to 18, she studied for a National Diploma in
Composing and gained more experience of the music
industry by carrying out a period of ‘work
experience’ at Beggars Banquet Records in London, who
following this, offered her an internship at Beggars
Group in New York. She has also taken part in
auditions, and entered competitions.
In 2003 she organised a showcase charity event in her
local area where she performed with other bands and
raised £200 for ‘Cancer Research’. The event had a
good write up with pictures in the local paper. She
also spent part of the summer in Cyprus performing for
‘One Stop Entertainment.’
She has recently cut 4 original tracks at Running Frog
Studios in Windsor, which will be used for publicity
and to form part of her first Album and has had her
music played on Reading 107, WCR1350 AM, Blast 103.6
FM and Pulse Radio, Classic Gold FM, Eagle FM and is
also having her interview and music played on Power
FM, Delta FM, Star FM and 15 radio stations around the
country, which is part of the SHMedia Group, to
promote her music. Amelia is showcasing her songs
with her band and also selling copies of her own CD’s
whilst trying to promote herself to get that hard
earned record deal!
